CHRISTMAS 2008
Santa's
Wonderland
11/28/08-12/23/08 at 1809B Fourth Street

The Giving Tree, Santa,
Elves, BOSS and
Wonderland Coordinators
It
was a wonderful treat to visit with Santa and his Elves this holiday
season. Thanks again to the staff of Castle in the Air (1805 Fourth
Street) for designing such a uniquely magical Wonderland.
We
are happy to report that over 900 guests visited Santa on Fourth
Street! Guided by tradition, the children brought their wish lists
and drawings for Santa. Not surprisingly, most children were very
up do date with their knowledge of electronics, sometimes a bit
more up to speed than Santa! This season kids were hoping for IPODS,
pets, musical instuments, sports cars and art supplies. We hope
their wishes came true! Let's not forget to mention the adults that
popped in to give Santa a hug. Cameras were flashing for pictures
with young and old alike.
While
chatting with Santa and his Elves was free, donations were accepted
on behalf of B.O.S.S. (Building Opportunities for Self Sufficiency).
This organization provides many services to the local community
including the Harrison House shelter as well as their Children's
Learning Center. We collected books on behalf of the young people
at the center as well as warm socks with toiletries for those needy
families in the shelter.
DONATIONS
COLLECTED
250 books
100+ sets of socks/toiletries
Some
families donated any number of special items such as a few toys,
1 new winter jacket, 5 red and white Santa hats, 10 stuffed animals,
a few puzzles, 1 paint set, gloves and several wrapped gifts.
Thank you so very much for making this giving fundraiser a grand
success.
